General Summary
This is a salaried position in City of Industry, CA that reports to both Plant Controllers. Manages accounts payable and accounts receivable across two subsidiaries that roll up to the parent Haco US entity. Performs efficient maintenance and processing of general ledger transactions. Located in COI with emphasis on remote work with the Manteno, IL day‑to‑day accounting operations. Travel to Manteno, IL (near Chicago) up to 2-4 times annually, with potential for more during training.
Upon full training provides remote accounting operational oversight for Manteno, IL. Applies the three‑way invoice match process, identifies variances, and communicates with vendors on price discrepancies.
- Managing the general accounting function in full support of and reporting to the Plant Controllers, ensuring they can fully back‑up the Plant Controller in all duties, with emphasis on Manteno accounting operations (AR, AP, GL, period‑end close, and reporting).
- Develop accounting procedures by contributing accounting work, oversight, and financial analysis and supervision, with specific skill and attention to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Focus on standardization of general ledger and sub‑ledgers at 2‑3 facilities to streamline consolidation to Haco US financials.
- Required to personally reconcile, supervise adjacent and lower‑ranked team members, and act as assistant to Controllers for completion of A/R, AP, and inventory ledger accounts for consolidated and subsidiary statements.
- Evaluate and implement improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring practices align with organizational goals.
- Review new product costing and re‑costing of existing products for accuracy and present to costing review team.
- Update product pricing in ERP for customer billing and maintain accuracy.
- Provide financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information; advising departments on data collection and analysis.
- Reliably plan and accomplish goals using extensive experience and judgment.
- Lead, conduct, and direct the work of accounts payable and account receivables with emphasis on remote management and assistance at the Manteno, IL facility.
- Maintain sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations; prepare checks, ACHs, and wire transfers for CFO/CEO approvals.
- Minimize legally required taxes by studying regulations; present tax strategies to management; file returns. Provide support to PWC for tax preparation, tax payments, and tax recordings. Understand business property tax filings and audits.
- Accomplish departmental and organizational missions by completing related results as needed.
- Ensure all records are reconcilable, auditable, accurate, and precise.
- Keep current with knowledge regarding products and services offered by the organization.
- Perform other duties as required.
- B.S. Degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
- Cost accounting preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting and ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, People Soft, MS Dynamics, with preference for ROSS ERP or related food manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of contract terms and procurement preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in other languages, especially Spanish, preferred.
- Prior food manufacturing and/or consumer goods manufacturing experience preferred.
- Prior experience in auditing or preparing information for audits preferred.
- Strong organization skills, flexibility, and ability to set priorities and manage diverse teams preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and juggle concurrent demands.
- Work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- M.S. Degree or other advanced degree is a plus.
