Overview
This is a remotely-based, nationwide search. As the new Property Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in managing the property accounting function for their publicly reporting REIT. The position will have oversight of the dedicated REIT property accounting team and will be responsible for accurate, timely, and decision-useful financial information at the property level. The role requires deep property accounting expertise, strong cross-functional communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage a rapidly growing internal property accounting team and third-party auditors.
The Property Accounting Manager will partner closely with accounting/finance leadership, asset management, and external operators to support execution of business plans and overall property performance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple concurrent workflows with accuracy and strong follow-through.

This company principally provides real estate investments to client investors structured to provide long-term, stable income and asset preservation to accredited 1031 and 1033 investors by consistently delivering diversified 1031-exchangeable Delaware Statutory Trust (DST) portfolios of both long-term, net-leased properties backed by investment-grade corporations, including value-add shopping center portfolios (VAP) with stable cash flow and upside potential. Additionally, the client has executed the registration of multiple portfolios within a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) vehicle available to institutional investors.
All of these products are distributed by the Wholesale sales team to financial advisors and qualified investors
- Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, debt compliance, and financial statements.
- Ensure general ledger integrity by reviewing account reconciliations, researching discrepancies.
- Perform financial analysis, including variance analysis and AFFO reporting, to provide insights to senior leadership.
- Support internal control and financial audits by preparing support, responding to inquiries.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, identifying process improvements to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation.
- Maintain ownership of the Yardi accounting platform, including system configuration, user access, and custom reporting.
- Analyze property tax data and review GAAP accruals for financial reporting.
- Review lease agreements and analyze tenant reimbursements, including accruals and recoverability assessments.
- Administer purchase price allocation process under ASC 805 for real estate acquisitions made in the REIT.
- Lead, supervise, and develop property accounting team members through coaching, performance feedback, and workload planning.
- Bachelors degree in accounting.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Real Estate Experience Required REIT Experience Preferred.
- 710+ years of accounting experience in top-tier public accounting firms and/or real estate environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Experience with Yardi is a plus.
