Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:

The Accounting Specialist reports to the Accounting Manager and plays a key role in supporting Capstone Mechanical's growing financial operations. This position is responsible for providing critical accounts payable and receivable support to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.

As Capstone continues to grow, this role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. The Accounting Specialist ensures invoices are accurately processed in a timely manner and collaborates closely with internal team members and external vendors to resolve discrepancies or issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate is meticulous, organized, and experienced in accounts payable and receivable processes, with a solid understanding of accounting systems and financial best practices. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and commitment to accuracy and integrity are essential. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling AP invoices.

* Support project management and service teams on AR.

* Reconciling AP invoices to Purchase Orders.

* Reconcile Statements.

* Vendor verification and setup

* Verify sales taxes status accuracy on invoices.

* Process Customer Credit Card Payments.

* Complete Credit Applications as needed.

* Assist in Month-End processes.

* Send reporting to home office at month end.

* Interact with department managers, supervisors, and employees daily in a professional manner.

* Back-up for Payroll Taxes submission

* Work with Accounting Manager and generate/print checks on 10th & 25

* Daily deposits of checks and apply to customers.

* Process all Cash Receipts

* Process Credit Cards via Comdata system.

* Process and manage inventory transactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required

* 2-3 years' experience in Accounts Payable

* Skilled in Excel and Outlook

* Experience with construction finance/accounting

Mathematical

Skills:

Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Must be able to assimilate information and think abstractly to develop practical solutions for accounting problems and issues.
