Rogers & Company is seeking Audit Seniors to join our growing nonprofit audit practice based in Tysons Corner, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Audit Seniors seeking a challenging and rewarding environment. An Audit Senior is involved in all aspects of the audit, will work alongside Managers, and will oversee staff while ensuring the timely oversight of the audit through planning, execution, and completion.

Engagements cover financial statement audits for nonprofit clients, as well as Uniform Guidance audits, reviews, agreed-upon procedures and other attest services. Responsibilities and qualifications would include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and support multiple audit teams concurrently, throughout all phases of planning, risk assessment, detail testing, and audit completion and reporting.
  • Effectively working and collaborating with client and audit team members at client sites, firm office, or remotely to facilitate work execution and completion.
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate working papers, and determine compliance with professional standards and firm policies.
  • Conduct and assist with testing procedures throughout all phases of the audit.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, including timely communication while being a key point-of-contact, understanding client operations, and anticipating and addressing client service needs.
  • Demonstrating professional creativity in dealing with client matters and making constructive suggestions to improve client operations.
  • Monitoring project status against the work plan and communicating schedule adjustments to Managers and Principals.
  • Collaborating with other firm colleagues on proposals and business development activities, and other firm functions such as recruiting, training, and marketing.
  • Maintain annual continuing education requirements, while helping to train and develop staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, or related education.
  • 3 to 5 years’ auditing experience in public accounting, preferably with some experience auditing nonprofit organizations.
  • Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and GAAS, with some nonprofit technical experience.
  • Experience assisting with the preparation of financial statements and disclosures, board communications, and management letters.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation and analytical skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Experience with MS Office applications and strong technology skills.

This opportunity is based in our Tysons Corner, VA office and is primarily in-office, with periodic client-site work. Limited remote work may be utilized as appropriate, based on professional judgment and business needs.
