Job Description

Are you excited about joining a team of accounting professionals managing the accounting activities of Akamai entities around the world? Join our GL Corporate Accounting Team! The Corporate Accounting team manages all operational and transactional accounting for the US, Costa Rica & Canada. The Accountant will be part of a five‑member team and report to a manager based in Krakow, Poland.
The team is responsible for operationalizing US‑based, Costa Rican & Canadian accounting transactions and working closely with all businesses and international accounting colleagues at Akamai.
In this position, you will build business relationships and work with stakeholders globally. The Accountant role will be based at the Akamai headquarters in Cambridge supporting the US Corporate Accounting team. You will focus on the monthly and quarterly reporting of Akamai results as well as ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities- Review accounting activities and prepare month‑end journal entries to accurately reflect business operations
- Prepare balance‑sheet account reconciliations to ensure account balances are accurate and complete
- Review OPEX & COGS activities and prepare monthly expense variance analysis
- Assist with preparing balance‑sheet & P&L flux analysis for monthly CFO close meetings
- Assist in quarterly and annual audits as required
- Have a degree in Accounting, Auditing or a related field
- Have experience in General Ledger accounting and reporting or audit areas
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of Excel (including Pivot Tables, VLookups, etc.)
- Possess analytical skills, attention to detail and willingness to solve problems when identified
- Have an established US GAAP knowledge
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Have the ability to prioritize workloads with a high level of accuracy in an ever‑changing environment
- Be a good team player, collaborate with people from across the business

CompensationAkamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only, the base salary for this position ranges from $65,700 - $118,300 per year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
