Dentons Bingham Greenebaum LLP is seeking an experienced and strategic Accounting Manager to oversee the firm’s day‑to‑day accounting operations and support accurate financial reporting. This role manages key accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, trust accounting oversight, and month‑end close, while leading and developing a team of accounting professionals. The Accounting Manager will partner closely with firm leadership to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and financial integrity in a law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AR, AP, billing, and cash management
- Manage the monthly and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses for management
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, client guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Support annual audits, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements
- Oversee client trust accounting activities to ensure full compliance with applicable rules and regulations
- Monitor billing and revenue recognition processes in alignment with legal accounting standards
- Collaborate with attorneys and practice groups on billing, collections, and financial inquiries
- Ensure accurate matter and client accounting in the firm’s financial systems
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including performance management and training
- Allocate work effectively and ensure coverage of key accounting functions
- Foster a collaborative, service‑oriented accounting team culture based on clear expectations and accountability
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and workflows
- Partner with IT and firm leadership on financial system enhancements or implementations
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Managed and coached a team of employees, providing ongoing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities to drive individual and team success.
- Law firm or professional services accounting experience preferred
- In‑depth knowledge of financial reporting standards
- Experience with Elite 3E and other legal accounting, billing systems, and trust accounting requirements preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong leadership and coaching skills
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
- Professional judgment and discretion with confidential information
