The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all accounts payable functions, as well as processing semi-monthly employee payroll. This role ensures timely and accurate compensation for employees and proper handling of vendor invoices, payments, and financial records. The ideal candidate is very detail-oriented, highly organized, and knowledgeable in payroll regulations and accounting procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Handle payroll tax filings and reconciliations
- Process changes for employee benefits
- Process and maintain employee expense reimbursements
- Review and process vendor invoices and POs
- Ensure timely payment of bills and maintain accurate records
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain organized accounts payable files and documentation
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process to meet internal reporting timelines
- Assist with month-end and year-end reconciliations and reporting processes as requested
- Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting
- Other duties as assigned

Required Technical Skills- Strong understanding of Quick Books
- Understanding of payroll process and payroll taxes
- Understanding of accounts payable processes
- Understanding of reimbursement expense management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word

Minimum of 2 – 5 years relevant experience in accounting with specific emphasis on experience related to payroll and accounts payable. Individual must have working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position does require office hours as needed. A mix of remote work from home and office hours is typical in a week.
