Position Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns, performing tax research, and serving as a client liaison to support long‑term financial planning. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong tax knowledge and a passion for client relationships and mentorship. You will collaborate with firm partners, coach junior team members, and support business development initiatives.
Descriptionof Duties Tax Technical Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex business returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065) and individual tax returns.
- Create and review detailed work papers to support tax filings.
- Conduct tax research using platforms such as Checkpoint and other firm tools and clearly communicate findings to clients.
- Deliver high‑quality work within expected time frames and budget parameters.
- Support partners and senior leaders in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Develop and begin executing a Personal Marketing Plan.
- Mentor and lead a high‑performing tax team: promote continuous learning
- Establish and maintain strong trusted client relationships through regular communication and occasional on‑site visits.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their goals and delivering proactive tax guidance.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of client businesses and industries.
- Mentor and train entry‑level staff and interns by offering guidance and serving as a professional role model.
- Support team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- CPA license or actively pursuing CPA designation.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in public or private accounting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Experience in a paperless office environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
