The salary range for this position is $45,732.00 - $54,204.00 annually, depending on qualifications, with periodic increments up to $55,584.00 annually.

This is a full-time, permanent, classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District and may be eligible for up to one day of remote work per week after the probationary period.

The Accounts Payable Specialist (Fiscal Specialist
1) applies the principles of financial management to perform functions in the areas of accounts payable and purchasing. Responsibilities include working under general supervision to maintain all accounts payable records for the Pierce College District. The Accounts Payable Specialist (Fiscal Specialist
1) exercises independent judgment on a daily basis to resolve problems and advise staff and administration regarding state accounts payable policies and procedures.

Additionally, this position actively supports and engages in Pierce College's goals for equity and inclusion in order to create and maintain a workplace that supports and respects accessibility, equity, inclusion, and diversity. This position reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor (Fiscal Specialist Supervisor). This position requires regular and consistent attendance.

Essential Functions

The Accounts Payable Specialist (Fiscal Specialist
1) will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

Accounts Payable (General)

* Works with Accounts Payable Supervisor and Procure to Pay Manager to establish and maintain a comprehensive system for recording fiscal activity.

* Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.

* Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports against balances.

* Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice and expense reports.

* Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities and account credits, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation.

* Ensures receipt of account credits for outstanding memos.

* Facilitates reissue and stop-payment processing for issued supplier and employee payments.

* Reconciles printed checks to invoices, verifies addresses for accuracy, and prepares checks for mailing.

* Processes vouchers for employee expense reimbursement and/or advances; checks vouchers for accuracy and required documentation.

* Ensures all payments are processed in accordance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

* Maintains historical records.
