What You Will Be Doing:
As an Accounting Technician 2, you will help protect the fiscal integrity of Alaska's Medicaid program by reviewing, reconciling, and validating financial and claims transactions within the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and its interface with the IRIS accounting system. You will support Accounting Technician 3 in resolving discrepancies, preparing accurate financial work orders, and ensuring provider payments align with federal and state requirements.
You will also participate in warrant stock audits, track federal dollars associated with Medicaid payments, and follow established procedures to resolve audit findings. This work ensures accurate accounting of millions of dollars in Medicaid funding, supporting timely and accurate payments to healthcare providers.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position offers the opportunity to work from home based on the business needs of the Division; teleworking is possible with this position after training and approval from the Division Director. On-site work is located at 4601 Business Park Blvd., Building K, in Anchorage, is conveniently situated near shopping, restaurants, and major commuting routes. Free employee parking is available.

Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
