Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist supports daily accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records and helping ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Please note:

This is a Hybrid position, working some days from our West Creek office location and some days working from home in the Richmond, VA area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Process daily payments and ensure timely, accurate recording of transactions.

* Prepare and post journal entries and other accounting transactions.

* Manage unclaimed property reporting and related compliance requirements.

* Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.

* Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation tracking.

* Perform banking activities, including account reconciliations and transaction reviews.

* Review and monitor corporate credit card activity for accuracy and policy compliance.

* Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and transaction issues.

* Assist with month-end and year-end close.

* Support audits and provide documentation as needed.

Qualifications

* Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.

* Accounting experience required; experience in a multi-entity environment is a plus.

* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

* Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
