The Office of Audit and Compliance (OAC) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a Senior Auditor for its UVA Health team. The OAC assists UVA’s Board of Visitors and UVA Health management by providing independent assurance and consulting services to the UVA Health system.
Responsibilities- Identify and document significant risks, controls in place to mitigate them, and proposed testing approach to develop a Risk Assessment Document.
- Recommend audit direction, scope, and timing to Audit management based on the Risk Assessment Document.
- Manage the project to scope and deadlines, and perform first‑level review of auditors assigned to projects.
- Document and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and operations through appropriate testing methods.
- Prepare draft audit reports for Audit management’s review, communicating control or process efficiency and effectiveness based on testing performed.
- Collaborate with audit clients to develop recommendations to correct deficiencies or strengthen internal controls.
- Build expertise in internal auditing, including trends in higher education, academic medical centers, and research‑intensive universities, and apply data analytics to daily work.
- Respond to ad hoc inquiries and serve on committees as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business‑related field.
- Two to three years of staff auditor experience with increasing responsibility, including handling all audit phases independently and mentoring staff auditors.
- CPA or CIA certification preferred.
- Five years of audit experience, including at least one year as a senior auditor.
- Healthcare audit experience, particularly in an academic medical center.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic and Workday.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The position may occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
Anticipated Hiring Range$95,000 - $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.
Position Type & Work Location- Exempt‑level, benefited position.
- Based in Charlottesville, VA; eligible for a hybrid/telework schedule with a minimum number of days on site per week per UVA remote work guidelines.
- Background checks will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment.
