Position SummaryThis position will primarily be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of tax and financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills to best support the tax and accounting team. Our firm offers excellent opportunities for growth and a partnership track for the right candidate.
Candidates located within driving distance of our Saratoga Springs, NY office will be given priority.
Currently, we are only considering candidates who reside within New York State.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other relevant field
- Minimum two years' experience in public accounting
- One to five years’ experience in preparing various tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S)
- Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Quick Books and Quick Books Online and one or more tax programs
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, preparing reconciliations and adjusting entries
- Ability to clean up, troubleshoot, and organize client accounting records
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively with strong time management skills and work prioritization in a paperless environment
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Valid CPA License or CPA Candidate
- Experience with CCH Axcess and/or Pro System Engagement and Tax
- Experience with multi-state tax returns
- Experience with preparing tax projections and consulting with clients
- Experience advising business owners and individuals regarding tax code, considering tax-saving opportunities
- Build new, and maintain existing client relationships
- Prepare individual, partnership, trust, and corporation tax returns
- Assist with tax planning projects for individuals and businesses
- Provide accurate trial balances, supporting schedules, and explanations of adjustments
Handle day-to-day accounting, categorize transactions, and reconcile accounts for multiple client files - Diagnose discrepancies and resolve system or workflow problems
- Identify and correct historical errors, duplicate entries, unreconciled accounts and misclassified transactions
- Handle multiple deadlines simultaneously while prioritizing work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Learn new information and skills quickly
- Communicate effectively with management and clients on tax issues and situations
- Prioritize client deadlines and provide excellent client service
- Research tax and accounting topics and assist firm in staying on top of all upcoming tax law changes
