Position Title
Grant Accountant (Accountant
2) – Oregon State Parks, Salem, Oregon.
Employee Position (Full-time, Permanent).
OverviewAs a full-time Grant Accountant you will evaluate, fund, complete, account for and monitor grant and funding agreements while serving as a consultant to assigned department programs and providing customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure grants and funding agreements are evaluated, funded, completed, accounted for, and monitored in an accurate and effective manner.
- Record financial information for department grants in the Statewide Financial Management Application (SFMA) and bill and report grants/projects in accordance with grantor requirements, federal and state laws, GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Provide ongoing grant monitoring and compliance support to programs and stakeholders.
- Serve as an internal consultant and customer service provider for assigned department programs.
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate and at least two years of accounting experience equivalent to Accountant 1 work, including setting up ledgers, account codes, controls and modifying accounting systems.
- Or a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline with 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours from an accredited institution in accounting, plus at least two years of Accountant 1 experience.
- Or 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in accounting plus four years of related accounting experience (classifying, reconciling financial data, designing and recommending accounting method modifications, preparing financial statements, interpreting laws and regulations). Graduate-level courses (15 quarter / 10 semester credit hours) may substitute for one year of experience but not for experience required by graduate courses.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Research, analysis and reconciliation of complex data sets using digital tools (e.g., MS Excel and Power Query).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional grammar and spelling, and the ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional organization, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience as a Grant Accountant or Analyst for a large-scale entity working with grant accounting and compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Power Query.
- Completion of a criminal record and driving record check meeting OPRD criteria.
- Maintenance of a valid driver’s license.
Potential for hybrid-remote work; travel to Salem for required in‑person duties is not reimbursed.
