We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our corporate office located in Jacksonville, FL. This is a hybrid opportunity with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely after the training period. This individual will prepare tenant reconciliations for reimbursable expenses, review tenant recovery lease language and set‑ups, and prepare annual tenant recovery budgets.
This person will also review and reconcile key balance sheet and income statement accounts, performing monthly true‑up entries in accordance with GAAP. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Accounting & Reporting team on projects, book special accounting transactions as needed, and apply strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Calculate and reconcile tenant recoveries for Common Area Maintenance (CAM), Insurance, and Property Taxes by analyzing lease agreements to determine recoverable expenses, maintaining recovery data in JDE, researching tenant inquiries related to recoveries, and collaborating with property managers to support budgeting and forecasting.
- Review and reconcile key Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts related to CAM, Taxes, and Insurance based on portfolio activity, ensuring accurate reconciliation of tenant escrow accounts by performing true‑ups and adjustments in compliance with GAAP and processing tenant billing adjustments when applicable.
- Assist the Recovery Accounting Manager and other internal stakeholders with ad hoc requests, including providing documentation, analysis, and support for internal and external audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in real estate and/or property accounting.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic proficiency with accounting software and financial systems.
- Ability to research and determine appropriate accounting treatment for various transactions.
- Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related accounting concepts.
- Ability to review and interpret legal contracts (such as leases) to ensure financial impacts are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
