Senior Accountant – SCAN Temp
This role is responsible for managing and overseeing client expenses, invoice reconciliation, and billing processes for government grants. The Senior Accountant prepares month‑end close, maintains journal entries, and ensures all financial transactions related to grants are accurately recorded, compliant with GAAP and/or government regulations, and aligned with organizational policies.
Responsibilities- Manage and oversee client expenses, invoice reconciliation, and billing processes for government grants.
- Prepare and review billing to State, County, and local agencies using designated software.
- Research and resolve issues with billings, payments, and expenses; escalation of complex issues as needed.
- Update and distribute all reports tracking billing, payments, expenses, and eligibility.
- Streamline processes as needed.
- Prepare month‑end journal entries for posting to the General Ledger by reconciling expense accounts, preparing worksheets, submitting worksheets for management approval, and entering entries in the accounting system.
- Prepare monthly indirect cost allocation and intercompany reconciliation.
- Assist with the annual budget process and forecasting; prepare and research documentation for audits.
- Maintain inventory for transportation and food vouchers; log transactions, perform quarterly physical inventory, and replenish vouchers.
- Update vendor website for transportation cards and manage deactivation and changes.
- Serve as point of contact with government agencies for billing and compliance inquiries.
- Collaborate with program managers and grant coordinators to ensure accurate tracking and communication of changes and requests.
- 5+ years’ experience in grant or fund accounting and accruals.
- Experience in a health‑care environment and related grant accounting is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area required.
- Graduate or advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Technical expertise: advanced analytical skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Pivot Tables and Formulas), and Oracle Financials.
- Basic problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Temporary opportunity for a limited period of time.
- Base pay range: $44.42 to $50.00 hourly.
