Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to play a key role in our finance team. This position is responsible for supporting the full financial close process and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. Beyond core accounting responsibilities, this role oversees critical operational areas—including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and loan management.
The role also prepares statutory reports, supports tax return preparation and audits, provides financial insights for business decision-making, and drives continuous process improvements. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and high-quality outcomes.
Core Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Prepare HQ reporting packages through the Canon Group accounting system
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Prepare statutory reports
- Assist with audit and tax return preparation processes
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Leverage automation tools to improve reporting efficiency where appropriate
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Own the end-to-end accounts payable process
- Review and process invoices for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate approvals
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies or delays proactively
- Manage employee expense reimbursements through SAP Concur
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Payroll & HR Partnership
- Process biweekly and monthly payroll using ADP
- Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll transactions
- Review payroll data and related payroll items for accuracy
- Partner with HR on payroll-related matters as needed
Loan & Fixed Asset Management
- Manage fixed asset records and depreciation in accordance with company policies
- Maintain loan schedules, drawdown records, and interest expense tracking
Work Location
- Based in CHCU’s home office in Mayfield Village (Cleveland), Ohio. This position will move to our permanent HQ on Cedar and 105th in Opportunity Corridor, Downtown Cleveland in 2026.
Work Arrangement: On-site
Travel: Limited domestic travel
What You BringEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems required
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, ADP, and SAP Concur preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
