The Accountant is responsible for processing Amideast Tunisia financial transactions on a wide range of expense activities, including resolution of issues related to Regional Finance/Headquarter standards of those activities. Backstopping the AR officer in their absence and providing a variety of accounting support tasks as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare vouchers and make entries into the Deltek Costpoint accounting system.
- Process daily incoming disbursement requests for multiple organizations including reviewing for appropriate documentation, signatures and coding.
- Responsible for field office accounting entries throughout the month and during the monthly closing process and reconciliation activities, in accordance with HQ standardized processes.
- Monthly follow up on the teachers’ timesheets/rates/invoices and payments.
- Record journal entries on the accounting system.
- Prepare the monthly and the annual tax declaration.
- Manage the accounts payable functions, ensuring compliance with disbursement controls, coordinating payments with the finance officer, and reviewing invoices for proper documentation and approval, while addressing month‑end inquiries and clearing outstanding items.
- Prepare account receivable sales orders and issue invoices into the Deltek Costpoint accounting system.
- Coordinate with the finance manager to collect unpaid invoices.
- Recognize and communicate unusual transactions to Finance Manager.
- Count the books monthly & proceed to record book movement; prepare tax certificates and other financial documentation.
- Coordinate with the finance Manager and provide backup for annual audits.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
- Manage the AP scanning and archiving.
- Maintain effective interdepartmental communications and relationships.
- Ensure any other tasks assigned by the finance manager.
- License degree in Accounting.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards and practices normally acquired.
- Good knowledge of local tax legislation.
- At least one year of finance or accounting experience.
- Ability to prioritize and self‑direct.
- Ability to learn and use specific accounting software and related modules.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, bookkeeping staff and auditors.
- Written and spoken proficiency in English, as well as French and Arabic.
- Team player with good communication skills.
The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (either on a full‑time, temporary, or hybrid basis).
