JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist ensures the timely, accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll through the HRIS system. This position works closely with supervisors and managers, accounting, and HR team members to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting employee data accuracy and payroll compliance.
This role may contribute to day-to-day accounting functions by providing data entry, journal account reconciliations and financial reporting support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Audit employee time and labor data; interact with supervisors and managers as required to verify data and resolve discrepancies.
Process timely, accurate payroll on bi-weekly basis.
Perform payroll ledger reconciliation; ensure balancing.
Establish and ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other deductions of employee paychecks.
Assist with balancing payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
Analyze and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, direct deposit, and other concerns.
Ensure year end W-2s are generated accurately and timely.
Processes garnishments and communicate garnishment information to all parties as required by law.
Research and contribute to the timely process of payroll tax payments. Correct data discrepancies with federal, state and local agencies; collaborate with appropriate agencies and internal staff for resolution.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements; including state tax, unemployment tax and local city/territory accounts, as required.
Responsible for monitoring and completing tax filings as necessary.
Assist in standard transactions and journal account reconciliations, as directed.
Pull various payroll reports from HRIS system, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5+ years’ payroll processing experience in large, multi-state environment
Associates Degree with business/accounting focus
Demonstrated working knowledge of debits and credits
Must have experience with multi-state payroll, garnishments, and automated timesheets
Experience with payroll tax issues
Proven ability to complete work accurately and with attention to detail
Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Strong and proven customer service skills
Prior working experience with HIRIS systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Manufacturing and/or semiconductor industry experienceExperience with ADP Workforce Now Desire to learn and develop new skills
Experience with ERP systems
This role has hybrid work flexibility, allowing up to 2 day per week remote work.
