Apprentice positions are scheduled to begin August 2026.
TERM LIMIT: This position is term limited and funding cannot be guaranteed beyond 08/15/27. The incumbent must be willing and able to resign on this date or when funds run out, whichever comes first.
Remote Work/Hybrid: In office 2 days a week Wednesday and Thursday; 3 days a week remote. Work arrangements are subject to change.

The Office of Administrative Solutions/Division of Financial Services is responsible for the accurate and timely collection and reporting of hours worked and leave taken by department employees in compliance with federal and state regulations. The unit serves over 3,000 employees across several agencies and provides payroll and timekeeping functions for all department facilities.
About the PositionThe Accountant Technician III is a 12‑month term‑limited apprenticeship within the state of Colorado, part of the Front Range Community College Bookkeeping Certificate Program. It combines on‑the‑job training with formal education.
Summary of Duties- Kronos Timekeeping System
Enter new hires into Kronos, manage people records, process terminations, complete the Terminated Employee Checklist, and maintain the timekeeping system for assigned facilities. - Payroll
Batch and enter all hours and deductions, reconcile payroll, manage direct deposits and W‑4s, handle suspended insurance premiums, and respond to payroll questions.
- Option 1 (Minimum Qualifications)
Three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or payroll, or a closely related field. - Option 2 (Substitutions)
A combination of related education and/or experience in accounting that includes timekeeping administration or payroll processing, equal to three (3) years. - Preferred Skills
Good written and oral communication; solid computer skills, including systems navigation, Google products, and Excel; ability to prioritize work and manage workflow.
- Standard background check (Name check, TRAILS, CMS, JBITS).
- Must be a State of Colorado resident at time of application and maintain residency throughout employment.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License required; out-of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of start date.
- Shift work may be required.
- Travel may be required for training or meetings.
- Former state employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned may qualify; disclose and explain circumstances in application.
