The Senior Accountant role is responsible for handling outsourced accounting requirements for EFG’s property management clients. The right person for this role will be able to utilize property management software such as Yardi and Appfolio, as well as EFG’s client management software, to perform accounting duties. This role requires the ability to handle a diverse array of real estate portfolios and a variety of accounting methods and policies.
The right candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work productively from a remote location, and engage with team members effectively using online collaboration tools.
- Respond to client requests in a timely manner
- Process receivables and payables
- Prepare adjusting journal entries for GAAP requirements
- Assist clients with software, accounting and policies/procedures
- Assist junior staff with accounting related items
- Process management and late fees
- Bank reconciliations
- Process owner distributions
- Mortgage escrows impound analysis
- Move-in/move-out
- Enter commercial lease information and amendments
- Common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations
- Sales tax calculation and filing
- Tenant ledger cleanup and corrections
- Denied applicant refunds
- Review, prepare, and send monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Enter budgets and assist with budget revisions and reporting
- Prepare 1099 filings
- Add and edit Chart of Accounts
- Regular review of accounting data for inconsistencies or errors
- Analyze financial statements to identify unusual variances, missing transactions, or discrepancies
- Investigate and resolve variances in income, expenses, or balance sheet accounts
- Follow up with clients or internal team members to address financial questions or errors
- Perform cash flow analysis and highlight potential shortfalls
- Ensure financials reflect accurate lease structures, owner contributions, reserves, and allocations
- Troubleshoot recurring issues in financial reports and propose improvements to workflows or client processes
- Establish and document client accounting procedures
- New client intake assessments
- Assist with internal accounting questions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- 5+ years of property accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Yardi Voyager, Yardi Breeze, and/or App Folio
- 3+ years of experience using Yardi Voyager, Yardi Breeze, and/or App Folio
- Self-sufficient and experienced in working remotely, with strong team collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to a wide range of accounting styles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
