Domestic Manager - State & Local Tax

Role Summary

As part of the Domestic Tax team, the Manager Domestic Tax will oversee and complete tax projects, provide innovative tax planning, and lead state tax accounting and compliance activities. The role involves supervising, developing, and coaching teams, and driving work streams by independently solving and analyzing complex problems to develop high‑quality deliverables. The McAfee Tax Department has over 20 employees in India, Ireland, and the US, split into Domestic, International, and Tax Accounting groups.

The Domestic team handles federal, state income taxes, franchise taxes, sales taxes, and property taxes. This position will be organizationally part of the Domestic team and will lead state tax accounting for quarterly tax provisions. The role is hybrid, based in the Frisco, TX office, with remote work when not on site. Candidates must be commutable to the Frisco office;

relocation assistance is not offered.

• Manage and lead state work, including tax accounting, SOX, legislative changes, and compliance.
• Develop, mentor, and supervise team members to deliver top‑notch results.
• Independently tackle and resolve intricate problems.
• Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points.
• Develop a point of view on key state trends and their impact on McAfee.
• Collaborate with others to ensure a comprehensive multi‑jurisdictional tax strategy.
• Foster and maintain significant McAfee relationships.
• Leverage technology and innovation to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
• Develop new skills outside the comfort zone.

• Ability to analyze unstructured data, provide technical guidance, and make recommendations to leadership.
• Experience with multistate tax issues and controversies.
• At least nine years of tax experience, with the past six years primarily in state tax in a managerial role.
• Progressive technical experience supporting a large multinational company in a state tax role.
• Broad knowledge of partnership tax accounting and compliance.
• Proficiency in modeling and using tools such as Alteryx.
• BA/BS/BBA preferred; master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.
• Active Certified Public Accounting license is a plus.
