Responsibilities- Audit Preparation:
Review taxpayer reporting, audit history, and instructions to plan each audit. - Field Examination:
Conduct on‑site visits to observe operations and gather information. - Record Analysis:
Examine financial documents to verify accurate tax reporting. - Audit Reporting:
Prepare schedules, work papers, and written narratives that explain findings. - Taxpayer Communication:
Provide explanations of procedures, findings, and appeal rights. - Team Leadership:
Guide and support auditors during group audit assignments.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.
- Telework:
May work from home part‑time, ad hoc, after an in‑office training period of one month. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location within Pennsylvania. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. - On‑site parking is available.

- Successful completion of the Revenue Tax Auditor Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of professional accounting or auditing experience and a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 15 college credits in accounting, tax, or auditing; or
- Eligibility to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination.
- Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075, which requires an enhanced background check before beginning employment. Acceptance of a conditional offer requires submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including a fingerprint‑based federal records check, a PA State Police clearance, and checks of local law enforcement agencies where the applicant has lived, worked, or attended school within the last five (5) years, as well as citizenship/residency verification.
