Property Accountant - Third Party

Job Summary

This role applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for management.

• Compile and analyze financial information for entry into financial statements and accounting reports, ensuring accurate journal entries in the general ledger.
• Review budget, revenue, expense, payroll, invoices, and other accounting documents; research and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform bank reconciliations, wire transfers, mortgage payments, and distributions, maintaining accuracy.
• Maintain accounting control procedures, analyze revenue and expenditure trends, and recommend budget levels for expenditure control.
• Analyze accounting and financial resources for property acquisitions, dispositions, closings, and related budgets and expenditures, including grants and contracts.
• Act as liaison to internal and external auditors, explaining transactions and providing research data.
• Communicate with property managers to support pre‑close and close activities and ensure timely completion of accounting processes.
• Complete various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analyses; perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years of relevant accounting or financial experience demonstrating GAAP application.
• Proactive, self‑directed, highly motivated with strong time‑management skills for handling multiple projects.

• Proficiency with internet, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with financial and property management systems (e.g., Yardi, One Site).
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance best practices, relevant laws, and regulations.

Team members work in a corporate office or a remote work environment. No special physical demands are required. Rare or occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or other business purposes.

Salary range: $60,000 – $70,000. Eligible for quarterly or annual bonus programs based on performance.
