The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial records that support the Financial Controller’s review and statutory reporting requirements. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, compliance with accounting standards, and effective execution of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while supporting audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Responsibilities- Financial Reporting & Close:
Prepare and post complex journal entries, including deferred stripping and accruals. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with IFRS, including preparation of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. - Revenue & Cost Accounting:
Prepare revenue journal entries in compliance with IFRS 15. Maintain supporting schedules for depreciation, accruals, prepaid expenses, loan balances, and other key accounts. - Reconciliations & Controls:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and trial balances. Assist in documenting, monitoring, and improving internal control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare variance analyses, trend reports, and key performance summaries to support management decision-making and Controller review. - Treasury & Forecast Integration:
Reconcile accounting revenue entries with Treasury cash flow forecasts to ensure consistency between financial reporting and cash planning. - Audit & Compliance Support:
Prepare audit schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits. Support financial, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements. - Systems & Process Improvement:
Execute month-end close procedures in SAP, including settling work orders and projects. Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through automation and process enhancements. - Collaboration & Finance Support:
Coordinate with Accounts Payable and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure timely reporting. Support capital budgeting, cost analysis, and other finance initiatives as required. - General Accounting Support:
Assist with fixed asset and project accounting modules in SAP, ad hoc accounting requests, and other finance and administrative duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Experience in the mining or industrial sector
- Experience with SAP S/4
HANA and/or One Stream - Experience supporting audits and complex close environments
- Hybrid office and remote work environment
