The Role

Learn the core business lines for each division and the available funding streams. Possessing critical thinking and independent judgment skills in a fast‑paced, sometimes rapidly changing, stressful emergency response environment will help you be successful.

Your Future In This Role

Professional development is available through leadership programs, online learning, and training opportunities.

Core Daily Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and verify a variety of accounting, statistical, and narrative reports.
  • Investigate subordinates’ grievances and recommend resolutions; recommend promotions and disciplinary actions; approve leave requests and overtime; provide adequate coverage during absences.
  • Review and analyze electronic and manual accounting systems and make recommendations to improve procedures and ensure conformity to policy and accounting principles.
  • Make day‑to‑day decisions on the accounting treatment of complex financial transactions and assist in developing and modifying accounting systems.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of a designated work unit; determine work procedures; prepare schedules; assign, review, and approve the work of subordinate staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.
  • A cover letter is required; applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
  • Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (emphasis in accounting).
  • Two or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience.
  • Washington State CPA certification is preferred.

Applicants must authorize and complete a background check. Background check results are reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis and will not necessarily disqualify a candidate.
