We are seeking skilled remote tax accountants to support the preparation of U.S. federal and state tax returns. This role covers individual, business, and nonprofit filings, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate brings solid U.S. tax knowledge, thrives in a remote team environment, and understands the critical importance of confidentiality in a tax practice.
Responsibilities- Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules)
- Prepare business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065)
- Prepare nonprofit tax returns (Form 990 series)
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation
- Perform data entry and reconciliation of financial information
- Identify missing information and communicate requirements to supervisors
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state tax regulations, including California
- Work within tax software platforms (Lacerte, Pro Series, Drake, Ultra Tax, or similar)
- Maintain organized digital work papers and documentation
- Meet deadlines during peak tax season and throughout the year
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or tax preparation (U.S. tax experience strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with U.S. tax forms and concepts: 1040, 1120, 1065, 990
- Experience with accounting software (Quick Books preferred)
- Strong Excel skills
- English proficiency, written and verbal
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team
- Prior experience working with U.S.
-based CPA firms or clients - Knowledge of California state tax requirements
- Hands‑on experience with Lacerte, Ultra Tax, or equivalent tax software
- CPA track, Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, or equivalent certification (completed or in progress)
