Accounting Associate; Executive Accounting Specialist Trainee

Overview

Accounting Associate at the Office of Comptroller Operations provides a full range of accounting services for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, supporting revenue accounting, cash management, and reporting functions that keep state finances open and accountable.

• Review revenue transactions to support accurate accounting and reliable reporting.
• Assist with cash review tasks to support timely posting and tracking of funds.
• Help maintain correct financial records by researching and resolving errors.
• Apply rules and guidelines to support proper handling of revenue and cash activities.
• Use SAP and other systems to enter, review, and update financial information.
• Collaborate with team members and partners to address questions and share guidance.

• Full‑time employment.
• Work hours:
  
  7:30 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch.
• Telework: may work from home full‑time with occasional in‑office days; requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved Pennsylvania location. Telework is subject to change.
• Salary:
  Starting annual salary of $53,008.00 for new Commonwealth employees.

• Three years as an Accounting Assistant (Commonwealth or equivalent Federal title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting plus 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
• Two years as a Fiscal Technician (Commonwealth or equivalent Federal title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting plus 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
• Bachelor’s degree with 21 credits in accounting and 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 21 college credits in accounting and 3 credits in finance or accounting.
• Applicants considered qualified if within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

• Meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
