Assistant Controller – Mostly Remote for DMV Candidates

• Our client is a well‑known non‑profit that has been around for almost 100 years.
• Due to a vacancy, they are hiring a temporary Assistant Controller.
• Position is mostly remote; candidates will need to be in the MD or DC office 1× per quarter and as needed by management.
• Pay: $58–60/hr depending on experience.
• Metro accessible.
• Duration: contract‑to‑hire, depending on performance, fit, and needs of the business.
• Schedule:
  
  M–F, 8a‑5p/9a‑6p, 40‑hour work week.

• Review and approve recurring entries
• Audit
• 990s and 990‑Ts
• Oversee AP and Payroll
• Forecasting and budgeting
• Maintain internal controls
• Month‑end close activities
• Consolidations
• Reporting
• Ad hoc projects/reporting

• Master's in Accounting/Finance or related field is preferred
• CPA is a plus
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Oracle Fusion and ADP Workforce Now are a plus
• Non‑profit experience is a must
• Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
