GAAP Accountant (United States)
The GAAP Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, support a reliable month‑end close process, and prepare reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analyses aligned with U.S. GAAP. The role requires careful attention to detail, teamwork, and a proactive approach to improving accounting operations. You will work closely with finance leaders and business partners to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency, and take ownership of process optimization.
Accountabilities- Participate in the monthly accounting close process by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for key accounts including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including related documentation and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial results and collaborate with finance teams to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.
- Enhance accounting work papers and leverage technology and AI tools to improve accuracy and streamline workflows.
- Participate in automation initiatives, system implementations, and accounting best-practice projects.
- Provide accounting support to internal teams and assist with operational finance-related requests.
- Complete ad hoc accounting analyses and special projects as needed.
- Ensure all assigned responsibilities are completed accurately, efficiently, and within required deadlines.
The ideal candidate is an accounting professional with a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and experience supporting financial close activities. They should demonstrate technical accounting skills, strong organization, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP principles and ability to apply accounting concepts to real‑world business transactions.
- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Comfortable working with accounting systems, financial tools, and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience using technology or automation tools to improve accounting workflows is a plus.
