Senior Accountant (OpEx Accounting)

This role is a hybrid in‑workplace position based at our Headquarters in Boston, MA. The position is not a remote/virtual role.

Wayfair's Finance institution is seeking a Senior Accountant for the financial reporting crew within the Wayfair Finance branch. This is a fast scaling role that offers professional development and exposure to many regions of accounting and finance. The financial reporting team is responsible for preparing our financial statements and ensuring they comply with GAAP. Team members work closely with various teams and departments to record the consolidated balance sheets and income statements for management monthly and to file public reports quarterly and annually.

• Key participant in the month‑end close process
• Prepare reconciliations of various general ledger accounts
• Examine month‑to‑month balance sheet and profit and loss account fluctuations
• Compile month‑to‑month and ad‑hoc financial reporting for senior management
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit work papers as requested
• Evaluate, endorse, and enforce best practices regarding accounting guidelines and processes
• Research emerging accounting and reporting issues to ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Work with the financial reporting team and product management to identify methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting and support initiatives to implement improvements
• Provide training to members of the financial reporting team
• Assist with documentation and compliance related to SOX

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 2+ years' experience in public or private accounting
• Self‑motivated and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience translating accounting standards to non‑technical stakeholders
• Analytical, problem‑solving and troubleshooting capabilities
• Quick learner who can adapt local practices to global requirements
• CPA certification is a plus but not required
