Senior Accountant
- Financial Reporting (CPA required). This is a remote role based in one of the 23 states Ladder hires in: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, KS, MA, MD, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA, WA, WI. Exceptions apply for SF Bay Area, New York City, and Seattle.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Accountant
- Financial Reporting
to join our Finance team. The role reports to the Senior Director of Accounting Policy, Reporting and Functional Enablement and collaborates with Finance, external parties, and across the company. The Finance team oversees the monthly close, financial and management reporting, accounting policy, contract reviews, audits, and taxes, supporting the business.

The ideal candidate is well-rounded, able to interact with all management levels and external auditors, and thrives in a fast-growing environment. The role offers opportunities to drive innovation in reporting and to help build the accounting function.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform monthly reporting and analysis on US GAAP results and related disclosures, including month-end close and budget-to-actual analyses
  • Prepare annual financial statements with detailed work papers
  • Research new accounting standards and implement related transactions; draft position papers and implementation memos
  • Conduct contract reviews and coordinate implementation with the team
  • Maintain awareness of current and proposed US GAAP regulations and recommend procedures, especially for insurance industry standards and revenue recognition
  • Collaborate with external consultants and accounting firms on financial and tax audits; manage and coordinate audit deliverables
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and propose improvements to support scale
  • Participate in ad hoc finance projects and initiatives
  • Assist with general ledger and other financial systems management
  • Travel as needed
Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Relevant industry experience or public accounting; CPA required
  • 3+ years of financial reporting, public accounting, or audit experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and controls
  • Experience preparing US GAAP financial statements
  • Experience preparing accounting research position papers and implementation plans
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various functional groups
  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality, timely output
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-moving organization
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Net Suite) preferred

Base pay is location-dependent and aligned with the indicated compensation tiers. In addition to base pay, roles are eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits as described above.

Tier 2 (LA, Austin, Boston, Chicago, DC, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego): $96,000 – $113,000
Tier 3 (All other locations): $90,000 – $107,000
