About the Role
Workday is seeking a Global Senior Tax Provision Manager to lead all aspects of ASC
740 reporting. This individual‑contributor position reports to a Senior Director, Tax Accounting and shares ownership of global provision governance, accuracy, documentation quality, audit readiness, and predictable close execution.
- Lead the end‑to‑end global close process in accordance with ASC
740 and related SEC reporting, driving accuracy, timeliness, and control integrity. - Own global provision governance, including standardized templates, review protocols, documentation requirements, and escalation frameworks.
- Conduct sophisticated ASC
740 technical analyses, covering new accounting standards, business operations, structural changes, and tax law developments. - Act as an ambassador across business functions to identify upstream operational or accounting changes and ensure timely evaluation of tax‑accounting impacts.
- Lead technical assessment and documentation for transactions, restructurings, acquisitions, and other business events impacting the tax provision.
- Serve as a technical reviewer for provision activities performed by teams outside the U.S.
- Mentor and elevate the global team’s technical capabilities and support long‑term scalability.
- Drive adoption of technology‑enabled provision processes and documentation workflows.
- Partner in automation, data readiness, and system improvement initiatives cross‑functionally.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of corporate income tax experience with deep specialization in ASC
740. - Significant experience preparing and reviewing global income tax provisions for a public, multinational company (technology or SaaS strongly preferred).
- Experience interacting with external auditors and supporting SOX controls.
- Experience with foreign provision, including ASC
740 impact from U.S. GAAP to local statutory accounting differences. - CPA license highly desired.
- Familiarity with tax technology, provision systems, and automation.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, including drafting technical memoranda.
- Experience with One Source Income Tax Provision.
- Strong Excel skills highly desirable.
Annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and additional U.S. locations are as follows:
- Primary location (USA, CA, Pleasanton): $166,700 – $250,100 USD.
- Additional U.S. locations: $140,800 – $250,100 USD.
Eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan, role‑specific commission/bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.
Work ArrangementWorkday’s flexible work model blends in‑person and remote work. Teams are expected to spend at least 50% of each quarter in the office or with customers and partners, while remote “home office” roles can gather in office for key events.
