Premium Auditor (Field & Hybrid) – Wilmington, NC (Remote)
RLD Associates, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Premium Auditor to join our growing team. This is a full‑time remote position responsible for servicing the Wilmington, NC territory. As a Premium Auditor, your primary focus will be conducting physical field audits at insured locations throughout your assigned territory, allowing you to work directly with business owners and observe operations firsthand.
- Conduct physical audits at client business locations, reviewing records in person and observing operations.
- Perform hybrid audits from home by phone interviews, virtual meetings, and electronic record review.
- Verify exposures for workers’ compensation and general liability premiums by reviewing financial records, conducting client interviews, and performing on‑site or remote audits.
- Research and apply insurance classification and rating rules in accordance with carrier guidelines and industry standards.
- Interview business owners and key personnel to obtain accurate exposure information.
- Prepare detailed audit reports using Microsoft Excel and proprietary systems.
- Maintain professional communication with insureds and provide exceptional customer service on behalf of RLD Associates and carrier clients.
Responsible for the Wilmington, NC territory, generally within a 60‑mile radius. Physical audits require traveling 3–4 days per week, depending on assignments. Hybrid audits can be completed entirely from home. Employees manage their own schedule to balance responsibilities and personal commitments.
Qualifications- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, auditing, or commercial insurance.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other business software.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the territory.
- Previous experience conducting insurance premium audits.
- Experience analyzing payroll and accounting records.
- Knowledge of insurance classifications and manual rules.
Billable hourly compensation: $30–$45 per billable hour (estimated annual earnings $50,000–$60,000). Physical and hybrid audits are compensated at different rates.
