DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on analyzing financial transactions, auditing restricted credit activities, and supporting the accuracy of accounting systems. It involves evaluating processes, verifying records, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. As an Accountant 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Report Analysis:
Organize and evaluate financial transactions posted to corporate ledger accounts - Compliance Review:
Analyze work lists and data edit failures to ensure alignment with programming requirements - Procedure Auditing:
Audit accounting methods and procedures to confirm accuracy and compliance - Process Documentation:
Prepare and maintain written narratives of division operating procedures - System Evaluation:
Assess accounting systems and databases to verify correct programming of interest, fees and refunds - Account Verification:
Analyze restricted credit transactions and confirm accurate posting through internal databases
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are an option of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 60-minute lunch or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch;
Monday - Friday. - Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, after successful completion of required in-office training. You will also be expected to report to the office for other in-person requirements and training as needed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary:

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Fiscal Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration), and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
- Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
- A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
