Position OverviewA growing public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Professional (Enrolled Agent or CPA) to join its team. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys working closely with individuals and business owners, providing not only accurate tax preparation but also strategic tax planning and advisory services.
The successful candidate will manage tax engagements from start to finish, prepare a variety of federal and state tax returns, research complex tax matters, and collaborate with clients to deliver proactive tax-saving strategies. This position offers a flexible hybrid work environment, opportunities for professional growth, and direct collaboration with experienced tax leadership.
Key Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Compliance- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and other applicable federal and state tax filings.
- Ensure tax returns are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Maintain organized tax documentation and supporting work papers.
- Research federal and state tax regulations to resolve complex tax issues.
- Provide clients with clear explanations and practical guidance regarding tax matters.
- Support year-round tax planning initiatives to identify tax-saving opportunities for individuals and businesses.
- Assist in developing proactive tax strategies that align with clients' financial goals.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather financial information and resolve tax-related questions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, professional service.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Utilize professional tax preparation software and accounting platforms, such as Drake Tax, Quick Books Online, or similar applications.
- Effectively manage multiple tax engagements while meeting deadlines during peak and non-peak tax seasons.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to internal quality standards.
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or CPA license.
- Minimum 2 years of professional tax preparation experience.
- Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
- Ability to independently manage tax engagements from preparation through completion.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax preparation software.
- Experience with Drake Tax, Quick Books Online, or comparable tax and accounting software.
- Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to small businesses.
- Public accounting firm experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
