YOURROLE AND IMPACT
Prometheus is seeking a motivated individual to join our accounting team as a Property Accountant. The
Property
Accountant performs real estate accounting duties for operating and development properties including but not limited to maintenance and analysis of accounting records; preparing monthly financial reports and cash flow projections and other reports as required by management or owners.
- Financial and Reporting - Prepare and review property financial statements and related supporting documents to ensure the financial statements are correct and in conformity with GAAP; prepare a monthly financial summary analysis and participate in monthly financial review meetings, demonstrating an understanding of the financial results of the assigned portfolio; prepare loan compliance reports and assist with annual budgets.
- Property Accounting - Complete month-end close activities in accordance with monthly accounting close calendar and month-end review checklist, ensuring items are completed within defined deadlines and all journals are posted timely and accurately;
Maintain accounting records for residential and commercial properties including recording journal entries, preparing financial statements, variance review and bank reconciliation; prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review trial balances to ensure all activity is properly classified in the property level general ledgers. - Audit/Tax/& Other Responsibilities
– Provide year-end compliance audit and/or tax return work papers; assist the Tax Department in preparation of tax working papers, tax projections, audit packages, and fixed asset schedules.
The Property Accountant must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Education & Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience; real estate accounting experience with use of property management software a bonus.
- Core Competencies - Strong working knowledge of issues, procedures and practices associated with property management, real estate, construction and partnership accounting.
- Technical Competencies - Must possess basic computational skills. Must be able to prepare and analyze data figures and transcriptions generated by a computer. Computer proficient in Windows, MS Office, Word, Excel,…
