The Office of the DuPage County Auditor is seeking a Senior Staff Auditor to work in Wheaton, Illinois. The position is for a 37.5-hour work week with normal business hours being 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. The Senior Staff Auditor position is primarily in person with occasional remote work.
The salary range is $90,000 to $105,000 per year. Benefits include all benefits available per County policy.

DistinguishingFeatures of the Position
This position is distinguished from the staff auditor position because of its responsibility for training and reviewing the staff auditors’ work and for providing leadership on projects when the County Auditor and/or Chief Deputy Auditor deem it appropriate to delegate that responsibility. An employee in this class has responsibility for:
- Assisting the County Auditor and Chief Deputy Auditor with planning and developing audit programs for financial, compliance, and operational audits.
- Assisting the County Auditor and Chief Deputy Auditor with developing audit work procedures; training and reviewing the work of staff auditors.
- Being a team leader when leadership is requested by the County Auditor and/or Chief Deputy Auditor.
Performs financial, compliance, and operational audits both independently and as lead auditor, as assigned.
- Reviews the work and audit work papers of staff auditors.
- Prepares draft audit reports.
- Assists office staff in the pre-audit of claims for payment.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
- Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, practices, and methods including governmental accounting.
- Considerable knowledge of risk assessments and internal control.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Adobe, web publishing, and other general office skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to constructively review the work of others.
Preferred Training and Experience- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, preferred in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, or related field
- Three years experience in auditing work, including one year of governmental work
- One year experience in training or supervising
- Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
This position requires at least one of the following professional certifications which must be active and/or current.
- Certified Public Accountant
- Certified Internal Auditor
- Certified Fraud Examiner
- Other relevant certifications may be considered
