Payroll Specialist
Location: 100% Remote (If local to Pittsburgh, occasional onsite visit every few months to pick up mail)
Duration: 6–8 Month Contract
Pay rate: $32/hr on W2
Start Date: Mid-August
Employment Type: Contract Only (No Contract-to-Hire)
Work Authorization: US Citizens Only
Assessment: Must complete the Payroll Specialist Assessment (Glider)
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support enterprise payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have experience processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, performing payroll audits, and working with Workday and UKG. This is a fully remote contract opportunity supporting a fast-paced payroll team.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll accurately and on time in accordance with company policies and payroll schedules.
- Review, validate, and maintain employee timekeeping records.
- Administer payroll activities for employees on Leave of Absence (LOA).
- Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Enter, update, and maintain employee payroll and personnel data in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality of employee information.
- Partner with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to resolve payroll processing issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of payroll or related experience.
- 1+ year of experience with Workday and UKG.
- Data entry experience.
- Experience performing payroll audits and reconciliations.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience responding to employee payroll inquiries.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
- 2–3+ years of experience with Workday and UKG.
- Multi-state payroll experience.
- Payroll-related certification.
- Workday certification.
- Work Authorization: US Citizens Only
