Location: Hybrid role based in Alexandria, Virginia with 3 days per week onsite and 2 days working from home.
NoteNote: Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, 8+ years of progressive hands‑on insurance accounting and financial reporting experience, strong Excel skills, leadership experience, and ability to work onsite in Alexandria 3 days per week. CPA and Life & Health Insurance accounting experience across SAP and GAAP are strongly preferred.

Job Description- Lead monthly and quarterly close activities with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and strong financial controls
- Support and oversee insurance accounting and financial reporting across SAP and GAAP
- Prepare, review, and strengthen regulatory reporting, Blue Book reporting, and audited financial statements
- Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide insights to support decision-making
- Partner closely with finance and cross-functional teams to ensure reporting accuracy and deadline compliance
- Help improve processes, reporting workflows, and overall efficiency within the accounting function
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff while helping elevate team performance
- Utilize advanced Excel reporting and support work tied to INFOR General Ledger and Prophix reporting tools
- Assist with special projects, reporting enhancements, and ongoing accounting initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience required
- Strong insurance accounting background required
- Leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff required
- Advanced Excel skills required, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and SUMIF
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and deadline-driven accounting operations
- CPA strongly preferred
- Life & Health Insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
- SAP and GAAP insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Blue Book reporting, audited financial statements, INFOR General Ledger, and Prophix strongly preferred
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills required
