Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Accountant to join our fully remote team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy of financial records for multiple organizations, supporting internal controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your expertise will help empower organizations to focus on their missions by managing critical accounting functions efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Record transaction details and organize all supporting documentation in a systematic manner.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and investment accounts regularly.
- Process and disburse invoices, maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare precise and timely financial statements reflecting assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax obligations.
- Maintain and update the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers.
- Review grant documentation, track expenses, and monitor budgets in accordance with grant agreements.
- Prepare financial documentation to facilitate grant submissions and funder reporting.
- Assist external auditors by assembling necessary account information and supporting documents for annual audits.
- Support the allocation of monthly expenses and overhead across various funding sources.
- Participate in internal control evaluations to strengthen financial processes.
- Aid clients with budget development, quarterly forecasts, and variance analysis.
- File tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies as required.
- Communicate effectively with clients and vendors via phone, email, and other channels to address issues and answer inquiries.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support overall financial operations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge of accrual-based accounting and cost accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of and compliance with GAAP standards.
- High proficiency in Quick Books Online.
- Experience with payroll processing platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Robust overall computer skills capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Prior experience in nonprofit accounting.
- Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
