Accountant
This role provides full-cycle accounting support for a high-volume business with approximately $3 million in monthly revenue. The accountant maintains accurate financial records, leads month-end close activities, prepares detailed reports, and supports both routine operations and special projects in a fully remote environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and producing financial reports.
- Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries and invoice transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage Positive Pay processes and complete banking reconciliations to safeguard cash and prevent fraud.
- Analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Generate recurring and ad hoc financial reports to support revenue reporting activities for a business with approximately $3 million in monthly revenue.
- Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team members to address escalated issues and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Ensure all financial records and reports comply with internal policies, procedures, and applicable accounting standards.
- Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other accounting initiatives as needed to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Work independently in a remote environment, managing workload and priorities to meet deadlines and support ongoing operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
- Strong general ledger accounting experience, including account maintenance and reconciliations.
- Proven experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, including payroll-related entries.
- Positive Pay experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, data analysis, and account investigations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Previous experience working in a remote role.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using Sage ERP software.
- Experience supporting high-volume accounting operations.
- Comfort working with recurring and ad hoc reporting for revenue-focused activities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Experience contributing to process improvements within accounting functions.
This is a fully remote position structured as a 6-month maternity leave coverage. The role supports standard business hours and requires consistent online presence, including during the holiday season, with limited flexibility for planned time away during that period. The position operates in a high-volume accounting environment, leveraging tools such as Sage ERP and advanced Excel for data analysis, reporting, and account investigations.
Success in this role depends on the ability to manage workload independently, communicate effectively in a virtual setting, and maintain productivity and accountability in a remote work environment.
This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
