Controller Opportunity

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established, family-owned real estate organization to identify a Controller for a key succession-planning opportunity. This position offers the chance to lead the accounting function for a stable and growing company with a long-tenured team, while helping modernize processes and prepare the organization for its next chapter of growth.

The company owns and manages approximately 25 properties and is seeking a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement, team leadership, and operational excellence. The current finance leader is planning for retirement and will provide extensive training and knowledge transfer to ensure a smooth transition.

Position Highlights

• Full-time, permanent Controller opportunity
• Compensation: $140,000-$150,000+ (flexible for the right candidate)
• Bonus eligibility
• Fully onsite with flexibility for occasional remote work as needed
• Monday-Friday schedule, generally 40-45 hours per week
• Long-term opportunity with potential progression into the top finance leadership role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations for a multi-entity real estate portfolio
• Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and preparation of property financial statements
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
• Supervise and develop a small accounting team
• Serve as the primary contact for annual audits and auditor relationships
• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting modernization efforts
• Enhance AP workflows and reduce manual processes where appropriate
