Tax Preparer (CPA or EA) | Ann Arbor, MI | Hybrid/Remote
Some tax roles keep you in the background.
You prepare the return, someone else speaks to the client, and you rarely see the bigger picture.
That is not how this firm works.
You will work alongside a Partner, getting involved from the start rather than simply picking up work at the end. You will build relationships, understand the businesses behind the numbers, and become someone clients actually know.
The client base is made up mainly of privately owned businesses, typically between $1 million and $10 million in revenue across healthcare, hospitality, professional services, and more. Plenty of variety without feeling all over the place.
The firm is growing too. Four offices, a virtual team, around $3 million in revenue, and plans to acquire more firms this year. If you want to grow with a business instead of watching from the sidelines, the opportunity is there.
There is a clear path if you want more ownership. Build your own client base and earn 20% of the revenue from those clients. Simple.
Hybrid working is exactly that. Most people work from home on Mondays and Fridays, core hours are 10am to 3pm, and the office closes on Fridays during the summer.
If you have around two years of public accounting experience and are a CPA or EA, or working towards one, you will fit in well. More importantly, they are looking for someone who enjoys working with clients, not just tax returns.
Here is the truth about applications.
Many people treat them like a checklist, where missing one item means instant rejection.
That is not how this works.
I start at 6am EST, so mornings work. After 5pm EST is fine too, though I may be slightly less lively.
Do not overthink it. The worst outcome is a friendly conversation about your career. The best outcome is where it gets exciting.
