Primarily responsible for applying revenue recognition principles through the performance of revenue accounting, while also charged with gaining efficiencies and work product improvements that address financial risk and support business growth.
Lead revenue and account reconciliations of all accounts within assigned divisional group or subject.
Prepare and calculate monthly revenue journal entries and accruals, which include proper supporting documentation and action on reconciling items.
Be accountable for the accuracy of all month-end closing deliverables and the timely completion of such deliverables in accordance with preset deadlines.
Prepare divisional financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly close schedule.
Analyze and clearly articulate financial results, and demonstrate an understanding of root causes of unusual or significant variances in presentations to management.
Contribute to procedure improvements and implement best practices that support the department’s objectives around timeliness and accuracy.
Coordinate cross-functionally to support the timely completion of audits and supplemental reporting.
Reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure proper supporting documentation.
Work collaboratively with other Entity and Division accounting teams to ensure financial completeness and accuracy.
Provide assistance on Retail Accounting ad-hoc projects, as necessary.
Qualifications & Education RequirementsBachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
3 – 4 years of General Ledger accounting experience in Retail, Insurance, or Hospitality industries.
Good understanding of US GAAP, and strong capacity to research and resolve accounting issues.
Excellent Excel and/or Access Database experience.
Strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Thrives in fast paced and complex work environments
Ability to analyze data and effectively communicate findings either verbally or in written form.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external service providers to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving and results.
Preferred SkillsAdvanced excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
Ability to compile, analyze and interpret financial data
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Experience using ERP systems (ex., Net Suite, Great Plains, Oracle, or SAP)
Experience using Business Intelligence systems (ex., Velixo, One Stream, OBIEE, Ess Base)
