Real Estate Controller (Hybrid)

A large, highly regarded global investment management organization is seeking an accomplished Real Estate Fund Controller to join its Dallas-based team. The company is one of the largest institutional real estate asset managers in North Texas. This is a senior-level position with broad responsibility for the financial oversight of institutional real estate investment vehicles. The Controller will work closely with portfolio management, investment professionals, fund operations, external administrators, property-level accounting teams, auditors and other business partners.

The position offers meaningful exposure across the real estate investment platform and the opportunity to improve the processes, controls and systems supporting a complex portfolio of investment products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of real estate funds and related investment entities.
  • Manage the periodic close and review process, including NAV calculations, investor allocations and fund-level financial statements.
  • Provide oversight of outsourced fund administrators and other third-party service providers, ensuring that deliverables are accurate, timely and consistent with established service expectations.
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and support the preparation of fund-level tax filings.
  • Oversee treasury-related activities, including cash forecasting, liquidity planning and coordination of capital activity.
  • Partner with valuation, portfolio management and investment teams to ensure that transactions and investment activity are reflected appropriately in the financial records.
  • Serve as a senior accounting resource on complex real estate structures, transactions and reporting matters.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls across the fund-accounting and financial-reporting environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting capabilities and operating efficiency.
  • Participate in accounting-system implementations, data initiatives and other platform-wide projects.
  • Build productive relationships with internal leadership, external auditors, administrators, property managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and professional development to accounting team members.
Qualifications
  • Active CPA license required.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in real estate fund accounting, fund finance, investment accounting or a closely related discipline.
  • Significant experience supporting institutional real estate funds and complex investment structures.
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to research and resolve sophisticated accounting and financial-reporting issues.
  • Previous responsibility for reviewing the work of third-party fund administrators or outsourced accounting providers.
  • Experience with fund financial statements, investor allocations, NAV reporting, audits, treasury activities and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and coordinating work across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong analytical judgment and the ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior executives, investment professionals, auditors and external service providers.
  • Experience improving financial processes or implementing accounting and reporting systems is strongly preferred.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

The organization provides a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • Generous paid-time-off programs (20+ days vacation from day
    1)
  • Retirement-plan contributions
  • Paid parental-leave benefits
  • Employee equity-purchase opportunities
  • A collaborative environment with exposure to an established global investment platform

This position follows a primarily in-office schedule in Dallas, with limited work-from-home flexibility. Additional information regarding the organization, compensation and reporting structure will be shared with qualified candidates. All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
