Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Tax & Planning
We are seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join a small, collaborative accounting and tax team. This position offers a flexible work environment focused on work-life balance, professional growth, and long-term career development.
The role requires regular in-office presence in Medford, Oregon, while also offering the flexibility to work from home. The position is ideal for a CPA with strong individual, business, fiduciary, and estate tax experience who enjoys working directly with clients and supporting a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual, business, estate, and trust income tax returns.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients.
- Prepare complex federal and state tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through phone, email, text, web-based communication, and in-person meetings.
- Gather, organize, and review tax documentation from clients.
- Distribute completed tax returns, client copies, and related records.
- Provide guidance, support, and technical assistance to other members of the tax and accounting team.
- Assist with tax-related projects and client inquiries throughout the year.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Work additional hours during tax season, potentially up to 60 hours per week, based on workload.
Required Qualifications
- CPA license in Oregon or the ability to obtain Oregon CPA licensure within 30 days.
- Must have or be able to obtain a PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Minimum 4 years of experience preparing:
- Form 1040
- Form 1065
- Form 1041
- Form 1120
- Form 1120S
- Minimum 2 years of Oregon Form 706 preparation experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and Oregon tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small team.
- Strong client-service orientation and attention to detail.
- Experience with Quick Books and/or payroll reporting.
- Experience with Pro Series tax software.
- Experience working in a paperless tax and accounting workflow.
- Experience providing tax planning and advisory services.
- Primarily based in-office in Medford, Oregon.
- Work-from-home flexibility available.
