Experienced GAAP & Tax CPA

Are you a problem-solver who thrives on building client relationships and making a meaningful impact? Our Auburn-based CPA firm is looking for a motivated professional to join our team of 17 talented individuals who serve an extraordinary and diverse group of clients across South King County, Washington, Alaska, and beyond.

At FBCPA, we pride ourselves on more than just numbers — our clients count on us for insight, guidance, and value-added services that support their growth and success. We are looking for a professional who shares our client-first mindset and enjoys building lasting relationships with business owners and entrepreneurs.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position offering a mix of responsibilities that will keep your work dynamic and rewarding:

  • Preparation of attest financial statements;
    Reviews and Compilations
  • Preparation of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
  • Supporting clients with Quick Books setup and ongoing troubleshooting
  • Helping businesses improve their accounting systems and implement best practices
  • Cleaning up accounting records, reconciling balances, and solving the “puzzle” of messy books

You will work directly with business owners, providing the guidance they need to thrive — and doing so with the support of a collaborative, experienced team.

Why Work with Us?
  • Team-Oriented Culture:
With no titles and flat billable rates, we believe collaboration leads to better outcomes — for our clients and our team.
  • Cutting-Edge Tools:
We utilize paperless technology and provide the resources you need to work efficiently.
  • Meaningful Work:
Instead of focusing on metrics based on billable hours or sales, you will be able to focus on helping small and mid-sized businesses succeed and make a tangible difference in their operations.
  • Community and Care:
We value our people and our community. We are committed to creating a workplace where you feel supported, appreciated, and proud of what you do.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: (both in schedule and location) We provide the opportunity to work from home in a hybrid remote setting.
  • Competitive Benefits:
We offer a 401k, medical and dental insurance with 100% employer paid premium, Flexible Spending Account, and a generous PTO package (including a one-month paid sabbatical after every 7 years of employment).
  • A Little Fun, too:
We take our work seriously — but not ourselves. Expect the occasional laugh, celebration, and team lunch along the way.

Position Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed CPA or experienced accountant with 4–7 years of public accounting experience, with a strong background in both attest financial statement preparation and tax compliance. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives on variety, collaboration, and solving problems across a broad range of client needs.

What We Are Looking For
  • Professional Credentials:
Licensed CPA (or in progress) with solid experience in both GAAP and tax, in a public accounting setting.
  • Industry

    Experience:

Exposure to construction and related industries is highly valued. Familiarity with job costing schedules is a strong plus.
  • Technical

    Skills:

Proficiency in Excel is essential. Experience with Quick Books and the Thomson Reuters suite (including Ultra Tax) is a bonus. Comfort working in a paperless environment is a must.
  • Tax Compliance:
Practical knowledge of payroll and sales tax filings, as well as the ability to perform related research, will set you apart.
  • Communication:
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are non-negotiable — you’ll work closely with clients and team members across all levels.
  • Time Management:
Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment without losing sight of the details.
  • Attitude:
We value professionals who are resourceful, curious, and ready to roll up their sleeves. A well-rounded generalist with a “can-do” mindset will thrive here.
