POSITION SUMMARY
The Bookkeeping Assistant will serve as an integral part of the LSCP’s operations team, tasked with supporting the Controller and other staff with tasks including deposits, payables, reconciliations, and other associated operations activities. This position is expected to work 100% onsite but will be equipped for remote work if conditions warrant.
POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES AND OBJECTIVES
- Work directly with the LSCP Controller to process payables, deposits, etc.
- Assist with month-end closing duties and reconciliations
- Process monthly expense reports for reimbursement
- Assist in developing updates protocols or procedures, as needed or identified
- Participate in financial reporting processes, including year-end and audit preparation
- Maintain customer and vendor database
- Additional duties as assigned by the LSCP Controller
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
All candidates possessing a combination of training and experience necessary to complete the position responsibilities and objectives as outlined above will be considered. Specific qualifications considered necessary for success in the position include:
- Demonstrated ability to provide consistent, reliable, and proactive administrative support
- Demonstrated ability with computers and financial software tools (such as Microsoft 365 and Quickbooks Online)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers and customers
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Experience and Core Competencies
- Minimum two years of experience in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or working in a multi-fund environment is preferred.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity in financial reporting and operations.
- Collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Proven time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Respect for confidentiality and data integrity.
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and initiative.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other standard business software.
- Proficiency in financial software tools such as Quickbooks Online.
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial management practices is a plus.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
- Combination of education and work experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of work experience in an office setting preferred.
- Administrative support experience is a plus.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
Starting pay for this Specialist position is $19.75 – $21.75/hour for candidates meeting the minimum qualifications outlined above.
