Sprowls & Company is a growing CPA firm specializing in construction and construction-related businesses, real estate, and closely held companies. We are a local specialized accounting firm with an excellent 25-year reputation. We currently have a staff of 30 accounting professionals who enjoy working together.

Most of our tax work is business-focused. You will spend your time working with corporations, partnerships, multi-entity structures, and closely held businesses - not buried in individual 1040 preparation. That provides exposure to more complex tax issues, planning opportunities, and advisory work while building a valuable industry specialization.

We also believe a successful public accounting career should be sustainable. Our standard work week is 40 hours, and our tax-season schedule is 50 hours per week Feb 15 – April 15. We invest in technology, streamlined workflows, and strong administrative support so our accountants can focus on accounting, tax, and client service rather than chasing paperwork.

If you already have construction tax experience, we would love to hear about it. Experience with percentage-of-completion, look-back calculations, job costing, multi-entity structures, bonding and surety reporting, cost segregation, or Section 460 is particularly valuable.

If you have a solid public accounting tax background and want to develop a specialization, we will help you build it. Construction tax expertise is valuable, and relatively few CPA firms offer the depth of experience necessary to develop it.

Our office is located at I-10 / 101 / 202 in Chandler, Arizona, in the Phoenix metro area, a short drive from Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert, and Mesa. We support a hybrid work environment, including the ability to work from home on designated days.

As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will prepare and review tax returns for a diverse client base while taking increasing ownership of engagements and client relationships.

• Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, consolidated, and trust tax returns
• Prepare work papers, supporting schedules, depreciation schedules, and estimated tax calculations
• Research and analyze complex tax issues and summarize recommendations
• Assist with tax planning and identify opportunities to add value for clients
• Manage multiple engagements and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
• Communicate directly with clients to request information, resolve questions, and provide updates
• Assist with extensions, quarterly and annual tax planning, and financial information prepared for tax purposes
• Support and mentor associates and interns, including reviewing work and providing constructive feedback
• Work collaboratively with managers and partners on more complex engagements
• Maintain accurate electronic work papers, workflow status, time, and billing information
• Participate in firm training and continuing professional development

Successful Senior Tax Accountants communicate well with clients and teammates, manage deadlines proactively, and know when to ask questions before a problem becomes urgent.
